ICYF-ERC presents youth innovation in AI at the United Nations
Within the UN ECOSOC Youth Forum held last week at the UN Headquarters, ICYF-ERC supported an insightful side event on “Role of Youth in AI Development and Shaping the Future”. The high-demanded event served as a dynamic platform for young leaders, policymakers, and experts to explore how the next generation can lead the charge in an AI-driven global landscape.
The event was hosted and organized by the National Assembly of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (NAYORA), and partnered by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ICYF-ERC and Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAM YO). This strategic collaboration emphasized the importance of international cooperation in fostering inclusive innovation and bridging the digital divide particularly in the developing countries.
Distinguished experts from the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (Azerbaijan) and the Biomedical Engineering Institute (ATU) led the discussions, focusing on such critical themes as:
• Youth leadership in AI development;
• Capacity-building and digital skills training;
• Strengthening global partnerships for the SDGs;
• Creating responsible and ethical AI solutions.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation by ICYF-ERC Deputy Director General Ramin Habibzade of the upcoming "International Youth AI Competition: The Future of Resilient, Sustainable, and Reintegration-Friendly Cities", initiated by the Centre as part of its wider engagement of youth at the forthcoming World Urban Forum 13 (WUF13) to be held next month in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event as well as the competition are part of the Center’s 2026 program for promotion of youth mastership of AI technologies.
The event partners emphasized their joint ambition to empower youth of the common geography to become active architects of technology, thus ensuring a future where digital transformation serves as a catalyst for sustainable development and global progress.
