Indonesian Youth supports ICYF-ERC’s statement advocating for the protection of M. Rabbani’s violated rights

Indonesia National Youth Council expresses deep concern over the interference with Mr. Muhammad Rabbani’s participation in the “Neocolonialism: Human Rights, Peace, and Security” conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group at the United Nations office in Geneva.

We are saddened by reports of Mr. Rabbani’s detention by Swiss authorities at the behest of the French government, hindering his legitimate participation in a conference dedicated to addressing pressing global issues.

Mr. Rabbani, the Managing Director of CAGE International, has been a dedicated advocate for human rights and a vocal opponent of Islamophobia. His contributions to raising awareness about the challenges faced by marginalized communities are commendable.

We, Indonesia National Youth Council:

• Underscore that this intervention not only contravenes fundamental human rights principles but also obstructs the unrestricted sharing of ideas and dialogue, which are integral goals of international conferences.

• We call upon other international organizations to support the initiative of the Eurasian Regional Center of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF-ERC) in condemning this interference and advocating for protecting Mr. Rabbani’s rights. The right to freely express ideas and engage in dialogue at international conferences is fundamental to advancing our collective understanding of human rights, peace, and security.

Our collective effort is vital in safeguarding the principles of justice, human rights, and international cooperation. We invite other international organizations to stand in solidarity with us and contribute to the protection of Mr. Rabbani’s rights and the broader principles we hold dear.
