Trace of Human Tragedies: Perspective to the Future on Civic Activism

On the occassion of the 28th Anniversary of Khojaly Genocide, in the framework of the Justice for Khojaly Campaign, Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) in partnership with Emisco – European Muslim Initiative for Social Cohesion and Budapest Centre for Mass Atrocities Prevention held an international conference at the European Youth Centre in Budapest, on 24 February 2020.
The Conference held under the theme “Trace of Human Tragedies: Perspective to the Future on Civic Activism” gathered together Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic corps in Budapest, prominent experts, adademicians and civil society activists.
Following the opening remarks delivered by H.E. Amb. Vilayat Guliyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Hungary and Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of ICYF-ERC the conference continued its work with two panels.
The first panel of the conference moderated by Mr. Bashy Quraishy, Secretary General of EMISCO hosted Mr. Gyorgy Tatar, Chair of International Budapest Centre for Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities, Professor Bülent Şenay, former Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination and Mr. Jean Marie Heydt, former President of the North South Center of the Council of Europe.
The second panel moderated by Mr. Veysel Filiz, Social activist and Spokesperson of EMISCO hosted Mr. Bashy Quraishy, Secretary General of EMISCO, Ms. Sevinj Iskandarova, Deputy Director General of ICYF-ERC and Mr. Marcell Lorincz, Member of the Board of European Network Against Racism (ENAR).
The informative materials of the Justice for Khojaly campaign were distributed to the participants during the Conference.
