Upon the invitation of the ‘Youth Advocacy Network (YAN) Pakistan’ Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) addressed with Keynote speech the closing session of the ‘International E-Conference on Youth Engagement for Global Action’ held on 19 August 2020.
The Conference dedicated to the International Youth Day started its work with the opening remarks of H.E. Mr. Taha Ayhan, President of OIC Youth Forum, Ms. Mahira Afsal, from UN WFP Islamabad, Mr Rehan Tahir, Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony, Pakistan and Mr. Fsahat Ul Hassan, CEO of YAN and ICYF-ERC Board Member.
In his speech Elmaddin Mehdiyev highlighted the essence of challenges and solutions for the better engagement and representation of young people in social, economic and political spheres of our daily lives. Referring to the academic researches conducted by prominent scholars, Mr. Mehdiyev called for the necessity of re-framing and re-understanding of youth policy to better address the needs of young people.
Director General also touched upon the projects and programmes implemented by ICYF-ERC throughout the COVID19 Pandemic, noting that one of the main priorities of the Center is realization of more inclusive and sustainable approach with a view of betterment of the youth in the region.
Taking the opportunity ICYF-ERC Director General Elmaddin Mehdiyev thanked youth of the region, in particular Pakistani youth, for their principled and just position supporting the youth and people of Azerbaijan against the recent military provocation and attacks by the Republic of Armenia.
