In the framework of the Justice for Khojaly Campaign – an international civil awareness initiative, the commemoration event was held in Lahore, on 26 February 2021, on the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide. The event commemorated the Khojaly victims was organized by Youth Advocacy Network (YAN) Pakistan in partnership with the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC).
Students, young experts and researchers, representatives of youth NGOs and human rights activists joined the event held in the Marvel Hotel, Lahore, Pakistan. The opening of the programme was addressed by Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of ICYF-ERC through a video message and Ms. Hafsa Mehmood, Chairperson of YAN.
Mr. Danish Tariq, Project Officer at YAN and Justice for Khojaly Campaign activist in Pakistan made a detailed presentation on the Khojaly Genocide and activities of the Campaign.
Within the Commemoration event the special photo-exhibition on the Khojaly Genocide was organized for the participants. At the end, Mr. Fsahat Ul-Hassan, CEO of YAN made concluding remarks talking about the joint efforts of the youth of the OIC geography to actively support the activities of the Campaign and contribute to reaching its goals. Mr. Ul-Hassan underlined the importance of conducting academic researches on the scale and horridness of the Khojaly Genocide and consequently, inscribing properly the tragedy into the world academic literature.
