The national segment of the “Model OIC International Relations Academy 2021” Project ended today with an official Closing Ceremony.
The Closing Ceremony of the national “Model OIC International Relations Academy 2021” was held online today with the participation of Mr. Elchin Asgarov, Chair of the Board of the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC), H.E. Mr. Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Nasser Abdul Kareem A. Raheem, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Azerbaijan– doyen of the Diplomatic corps in Azerbaijan and H.E. Mr. Anar Rzayev, Vice-Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
This year, over 100 talented Azerbaijani youth participated in the 5-day seminars within the national segment of the Model OIC International Relations Academy 2021. Aiming to increase their diplomatic competencies and skills the participants of the simulation conference held as the last stage of the project imitated the work of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers under the topic: “Political Crisis in Yemen and Israel’s Military Operations in the Gaza Strip”. The project was organized by ICYF-ERC in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Elchin Asgarov, Chair of the Board of the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) talked about the history of the program, the features of national and international levels as well as youth activities in the OIC member states. He also mentioned that the program will engage more youth in the upcoming years.
H.E. Mr. Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and H.E. Mr. Anar Rzayev, Vice-Rector of UNEC stated the importance of youth participation in international diplomacy after the country’s glorious victory in the 44-day Karabakh war and called on them to be more interested in international relations.
H.E. Ambassador Nasser Abdul Kareem, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Azerbaijan thanked the organizers and called on youth to be more prepared for challenges and crisis with a view of the current pandemic. At the end, he wished good luck to the participants in their future endeavors.
