ICYF-ERC organized Islamic Cultural Heritage Tour in Baku city

On 1 May, 2022, the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) organized the “Islamic Cultural Heritage” Tour for the participants of the “Model OIC: International Relations Academy 2022” which was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The first part of the tour started in Baku Inner City (Icheri Sheher). The tour guides provided by Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department took the participants to visit the heritages of the Baku Old City. The tour included visiting Saray Mosque, the ruins of Kaygubad Mosque, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi’s tomb, Beyler Mosque, Muhammad Mosque (Siniggala Mosque), Juma Mosque, Mekteb Mosque (School-Mosque), Sayyid Yahya Murtuza Mosque (Hazrat Ali Mosque), and Imam Kulu Mekteb-Mosque (besides the Maiden Tower).

The second part of the tour started in Bibiheybat Mosque and Shrine Complex. Inside the Mosque complex, participants prayed at shrine of the Hakima Khanim (daughter of the 7th Imam Musa Kazim, from the family of Prophet Muhammad Pbuh). The Mosque caretaker told the youth about its spiritual significance and miraculous stories that are believed to happen there. Moreover, the group got a chance to enter the museum which displayed artefacts (pictures, paintings, and official letters) elaborating the history of the site.

The Islamic heritage tour concluded with a collective Iftar ceremony where the youth shared the joy and spirit of Ramadan.
