The correct answer to the question is:
“The hero of the Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s poem is the Karabakh horse with golden-chestnut coloring named Zaman (Time). The horse was so beautiful that Nikita Khrushchev, the then leader of the Soviet Union presented it to Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, in 1956. Zaman had to make a long travel from the Jidir Plain in the Shusha city of Azerbaijan to the United Kingdom.
Note: Karabakh horse is one of the last purebred horse breeds in the world. The breed is very old (the oldest in the Caucasus) and known for its strength, speed and endurance. The animal is of great cultural importance to the people of Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, the three-decade lasting Armenian occupation of Karabakh – the region from which the horses originated and destruction of the stud farm in Aghdam in 1993 put them at risk of extinction. A traditional Karabakh horse-riding game – Chovqan was included on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2013).”
Today can be your turn to shine! Get ready for this week’s question that will be posted on our social media accounts today, at 3 PM, Baku time (GMT +4).
