COVID-19: Stimulating Youth Activism Online

“COVID-19: Stimulating Youth Activism Online” Interactive Webinar for Youth Organizations organized by the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) successfully finishes its work.

The webinar started its work with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The Opening continued with greeting remarks and statements delivered by Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of ICYF-ERC, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ajmal Shahpoor, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs to the Ministry of Information and Culture of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Timur Suleymanov, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan (RF) and Mr. Tantan Taufiq Lubis, Chairman of Indonesia National Youth Council, Head Advisory to the OIC Youth Indonesia and Asia-African Youth Government.

Heads of important youth organizations and experts active in the field of youth addressed the webinar with the relevant presentations. The session continued with general discussions with participation of representatives of 25 youth organizations selected for participation.

The speakers and participants of the webinar highlighted that although young people are one of the most affected segments of society, they are playing a key role in the management of the COVID-19 outbreak and the recovery following the outbreak. It was also mentioned that it is important for the governments and various international bodies to put all efforts to avoid any failure to meet the needs of all age groups in the society, in particular youth. Different kinds of platforms are of utmost importance to discuss the needs and to define the priorities of young people in the current situation with their direct involvement and participation.
