On June 24, 2023, the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) in partnership with ADA Model OIC Club organized the OIC Foreign Ministers Council Simulation Conference at ADA University.
The topic of the Conference was “Maintenance and Promotion of Peace and Security among Islamic Countries”. The Conference aimed to bring together local students representing various universities of Azerbaijan to get practical skills on how to carry out diplomatic discussions, negotiate, and propose resolutions on the given topic.
The conference started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Three distinct committee sessions simulating an OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) session, were held: “Countering terrorism and extremism: discussion of the joint efforts of Islamic countries against terrorism and extremism, including the exchange of intelligence information, joint military operations and deradicalization programs”, “Humanitarian Aid and Refugee Management: Exploring the role of Islamic countries in humanitarian aid, support for peace and stability in the OIC region, and effective management of refugee crises”, and “Strengthening of the security of non-nuclear-weapon states against the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons”. Between the committee sessions, participants enjoyed coffee breaks.
The main purpose of the OIC Foreign Ministers Council Simulation Conference, which was attended by more than 42 Azerbaijani youth was to provide the participants with practical experience in International Relations and Diplomacy, as well as important topics on the OIC agenda.
Based on the performance and debating skills, the jury members evaluated the participants and the most successful ones received certificates on different nominations.
