Today, on 6 November 2020, in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, OIC Youth Indonesia in partnership with the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC) organized a solidarity action for Azerbaijan protesting the Armenian occupation of #NagornoKarabakh region of Azerbaijan. The action was supported by ICYF-ERC in the framework of the international informative campaign “Karabakh is Azerbaijan” approved by the international board of ICYF-ERC in July 2020. Youth leaders and representatives from 42 youth organizations of Indonesia participated in the demonstration.
The action was led by Muhammad Sopyan from Muhammadiyah University and addressed by Syafii Effendi, President of the OIC Youth Indonesia and Astrid Nadya Rizkyta, Secretary General of the OIC Youth Indonesia.
The participants of the demonstration supporting the right of Azerbaijan to defend its territorial integrity and the relevant counter-offensive actions:
– demanded immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian occupying forces from the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan in line with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions;
– referred to the relevant part of the Indonesian Constitution on “elimination of all forms of occupation” and “creating world peace”;
– called upon the Government of Indonesia to demand Armenia to stop its aggression against Azerbaijan; and to reconsider diplomatic relations with Armenia which violated the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan occupying almost 20% of its territories and failed to implement the 1993 UN Security Council Resolutions.
– welcomed the strong stance of the Government of Indonesia in support of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the recent meetings of the UN Security Council on the Armenia – Azerbaijan conflict.
