ICYF-ERC Director General participated yesterday at the briefing held for representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Military Information Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a briefing for the heads of diplomatic missions and military attachés on 14 October 2020, on recent military activities and deployment of the tactical-ballistic missiles by Armenia against Azerbaijani civilians. The briefing was held with the participation of Mr. Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Elchin Amirbayov, Assistant of the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Major General Ikram Aliyev, Chief of Staff of the Air Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Lieutenant Colonel Anar Eyvazov, Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum participated at the briefing on behalf of the ICYF-ERC. During the briefing diplomatic corps were briefed that Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia had deployed the “Tochka-U” Short-Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM) and “9K72 Scud” Medium-Range Ballistic Missile (MRBM) systems on the Armenia-Azerbaijan international border in the direction of the occupied Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan and with reference to the relevant intelligence reports, it was confirmed that the deployment of these missiles aimed at the shelling of the civilian settlements and critical infrastructure of the Republic of Azerbaijan far from the conflict zone.

Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan informed that these missile systems were in the launching position and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan took necessary preventive measures and neutralized deployed ballistic missile systems as a legitimate military targets on 14 October 2020.
