The Kazan Model OIC, jointly organized by the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, Tatarstan Republic Youth Social Fund “SELET” and the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF-ERC), took place on 4–5 October, 2024.
The model aimed at bringing youth together, learning and sharing culture, identifying and solving existing problems in the proposed themes and forming committees on various issues.
The official opening featured speeches from representatives of the organizing team as well as distinguished speakers from the “Kazan Dialogues,” including:
Mr. Rafig Ismayilov – Director General at the ICYF-ERC
Ms. Aigul Gabdrakhmanova – Director of the “Selet” Youth Centera and Pro bono Advisor to the Chair of the Board of ICYF-ERC
Ms. Dilbar Sadykova – Chairwoman of the Academy of Youth Diplomacy
Mr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Amari – Director of the “Al-Hadara” Center for Arab Culture
Mr. Diana Mazurova – Representative of the COUNCIL OF YOUNG DIPLOMATS OF THE RUSSIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Mr. Daval Desai – Vice President of the Observer Research Foundation
Mr. Naghi Akhmedov – PhD candidate at Shandong University (China), independent expert on COP-29
During the simulation, participants discussed critical issues related to education, science, ecology, and human rights in the context of contemporary challenges. The OIC Resolution adopted by the participants proposes to establish an Islamic Scientific Education Center, create a funding program for research centers in developing countries, and encourage the implementation of green policies in the OIC countries.
At the closing ceremony of the Kazan Model of the OIC, the best delegates were awarded certificates and gifts from partners.
