Jakarta, September 13, 2023 — The Model OIC International Relations Academy 2023 commenced with an enlightening inaugural lecture held on September 13. This event was a collaborative endeavor between the Santri Diplomacy Academy, an autonomous platform of OIC Youth Indonesia, the Indonesia National Youth Council, and the Eurasian Regional Center of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF ERC) based in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The inaugural lecture, titled “Navigating International Relations: Multilateral Diplomacy in the Modern World,” delved into the concept of multilateralism as a diplomatic approach wherein multiple countries collaborate to address common global challenges. The discussion illuminated the evolving dynamics of international relations in today’s world.
In her opening address, Ms. Astrid Nadya Rizqita expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and underscored the profound significance of this collaborative initiative in nurturing diplomatic dialogue among youth. Ms. Rizqita also reflected on the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019-2024, highlighting key areas such as economic diplomacy, protection diplomacy, sovereignty and national diplomacy, global leadership enhancement, and the reinforcement of diplomacy infrastructure.
Mr. Vusal Gurbanov, Acting Director General of Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF, shared insights about the Model OIC International Relations Academy, ICYF ERC’s commitment to empowering youth in its region, and forthcoming activities. He extended his appreciation to the organizers and students for their dedication to diplomacy.
Mr. Herbayu Noerlambang provided valuable perspectives on the roles of multilateral diplomacy, regional diplomacy, and bilateral diplomacy, with a particular focus on the contributions of the Indonesian Consulate in New York in the realm of bilateral diplomacy.
This inaugural lecture marked a significant milestone for the Model OIC International Relations Academy 2023, setting the stage for its offline phase in October, coinciding with the National Santri Day. Attendees departed with a deeper understanding of the pivotal role of multilateral diplomacy in addressing global challenges and fostering international cooperation.
