On July 12, 2020, the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia attempted to attack the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the direction of the Tovuz district along the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The attack of the Armenian military forces was prevented by retaliatory measures. As a result of the combat, three servicemen of the Azerbaijani army fell martyrs and four were injured.
This provocative cross border attack is yet another manifestation of the Armenian aggression towards Azerbaijan aimed to distract the attention of the international community from the continued occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan and to involve third countries in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict through increasing tensions in the region. Obviously, such provocative actions of the Armenian government shamelessly aims to divert the Armenian society from its failed domestic policies, including over the course of the ongoing pandemic.
The International Board of ICYF-ERC conveys its condolences to brotherly Azerbaijan for the martyrs and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
